About the Company:

ESI currently serves 232 health care operations including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and other ancillary service providers. These operations have no corporate headquarters or traditional management hierarchy. Instead, they operate independently with support from the “Service Center,” a world-class service team that provides centralized legal, human resource, training, accounting, IT and other resources necessary to allow on-site leaders and caregivers to focus on day-to-day care and business issues in their facilities and operations.

About the Opportunity:

The Lead Benefits Specialist will lead 2 benefit administrators, overseeing and administering the benefit programs. Key areas of focus for the team are the health and welfare benefit programs, tuition reimbursement and 401(k) plan.   The selected candidate should possess strong communication skills, have great attention to detail, be team oriented and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefit enrollments in Workday, providing vendors with correct eligibility information

  • Performs qualify checks of benefit related data

  • Provides excellent customer service 

  • Documents and maintains administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes

  • Frequently drafts various benefit communications and ensures legally required communications are up to date and distributed appropriately

  • Tracks regulatory and legislative changes affecting benefit programs and recommends updates and actions to ensure compliance and facilitate communications to stakeholders

  • Responds to benefit inquiries on plan provisions, benefit enrollment, status changes and other general inquiries.

  • Leads the open enrollment processes, overseeing the annual communication campaign

  • Leads new hire and acquisition orientations

  • Leads a team of 2 administrators and partners with regional HR Business Partners as a benefits administration subject matter expert.  

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience as a benefits administrator

  • Advanced proficiency in Workday (or other HRMS system) and Excel

  • Previous knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws

  • Demonstrates outstanding troubleshooting, analytical and technical ability

  • Excellent interpersonal (verbal, written, orientation) communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and changing environment

This full-time, exempt position will be based at the Service Center in San Juan Capistrano, California.
